Eco Lodge - Surfschool

Busua, Ghana - 2016

“Ahanta Waves" is a surfschool and eco lodge, located on the coast of Busua - Ghana.

The project was built by local craftsmen with locally sourced materials, such as rammed earth and thatch (Rafia). The project was particially financed by crowdfunding.

By involving the community into the building process, the project started to serve as a communal hub where locals can interact with travellers. It was the first rammed earth building on the coast of Ghana.

This project was a collaboration with AsaDuru, a construction firm based in Johannesburg, South Africa, specialised in rammed earth construction.
