Ambiorix
Residential project
Schoten, Belgium - 2022
“Ambiorix” is a contemporary residence that draws inspiration from warm modernist design. The interior plan focuses on two key axes that divide the different spaces inside and that generate viewpoints on nature and its surroundings.
At the end of one of the axes, a double-height void with a staircase provides access to the second floor, which houses the bedrooms for the kids and playroom. The abundant natural light elevates the design and fosters a welcoming and cozy ambiance for the spaces inside.
The house is exceedingly green. The timber frame, constructed by wood construction specialist Sidati, stores about 20.000 kg of CO² into the building. The facades are build up out of eco-bricks, which adds mass to the timber frame, giving it a great thermal buffer.
The project serves as an inspiration for others to incorporate sustainability into their architectural and contemporary designs.
